“Winter storm cancels 1,400 flights at DFW Airport, Dallas Love Field,” Dallas Morning News' Jamie Landers and Kyle Arnold — “Nearly half of all flights in and out of DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field are canceled with snow and sleet falling throughout the region and more expected through Thursday.
Almost 1,000 departing and arriving flights at DFW International Airport have already been scrapped for the day and another 200 at Dallas Love Field, according to Flightaware.com. Only a handful have been delayed as airlines preemptively canceled flights to manage air traffic during the anticipated winter weather.
Aircraft departing from DFW Airport were being sprayed with deicing fluid to remove snow and ice Thursday morning.
The FAA noted on its website that ground stops or delays were possible at the airports after 8 a.m.
DFW airport officials said on X at about 5 a.m. Thursday that crews were pre-treating roads and the airfield to prepare for the potential of rain, sleet and snow.
”Please allow extra drive time and check your flight schedule with your airline,” the post said.
Dallas Love Field officials said conditions may also interrupt their flights in the coming days and asked travelers to contact their airlines directly for updates on delays and cancellations." DMN ($)
